Job Summary:
Currie & Brown is looking for an apprentice quantity surveyor for our Portland, OR office. The successful candidate will be a high school graduate who is excited about beginning a career in the construction industry. As an apprentice, you will earn valuable industry experience while working alongside skilled professionals. Currie & Brown will pay for our chosen candidate to earn a bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying while working for our company (terms and conditions will be listed in our offer of employment).
Job Responsibilities:
- Supporting the preparation of tender documentation
- Reviewing tender documentation which will initially involve data capture for benchmarking and future cost plans
- Attending project/client meetings which will initially involve taking meeting minutes
- Recording pricing of variations and project changes
- Assisting in the delivery of professional services to clients
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Recent high school graduate OR associates degree in construction management
- Reliable transportation to-and-from work (office location Hillsboro, Oregon)
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Aptitude to learn and strong desire to become a chartered quantity surveyor in the future
- Proactive in your approach to learning and working at the same time
Compensation: $14.75/hour plus college tuition
