Job Summary: The Clackamas County Department of Transportation & Development is seeking a motivated, experienced, and collaborative leader to join our Surveyor and Public Land Corner (PLC) teams as the County Surveyor. The County Surveyor exercises direct supervision over the Surveyor and PLC programs, and is an appointed position that reports to the Assistant Director of Transportation and Development. If selected for this position, your main focus will be supervising and overseeing the teams performing the surveying, recording and plat review activities of the County Surveyor's Program. Your work will also include administration, management and maintenance of the Public Land Survey System (PLSS). This is a unique opportunity to provide highly skilled technical expertise and leadership for a high-functioning team that services the residents and developers working in incorporated and unincorporated Clackamas County.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Active registration as a Professional Land Surveyor in the State of Oregon (Note: Proof of registration will be required prior to the final offer of employment being extended to the selected candidate.)
  • Experience directly supervising employees (Supervisory experience is defined as/includes providing daily work direction and/or scheduling, assigning work, checking completed work, training, coaching, maintaining confidentiality related to personnel records and issues, as well as conducting performance evaluations and taking corrective action when needed.)
  • A minimum of five (5) years of related experience that would provide the required knowledge and skills to perform the responsibilities of this position.
  • Experience with budget development, implementation, administration and management

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree or higher in Surveying
  • Experience working with drafting and computer aided drafting (CAD) methods
  • Experience working with AutoCAD as part of the MicroSurvey software program
  • Current certification as a Federal Surveyor (CFedS) or other public land corner training

Compensation: $54.47 - $73.53 Hourly
