Do you love what you do and want to share it with others? Yestermorrow Design-Build School has been offering design-build courses for 40 years on its campus in Waitsfield, VT. Some of our most popular courses are Woodworking for Women, Carpentry for Women, and Timberframing for Women.
We are now offering online courses and are looking for instructors to teach basic trades courses including: plumbing, electrical, HVAC, etc. for homeowners and people considering going into the trades. We're also looking to add a course about how to thrive as a woman in the trades. If you have other course ideas we'd love to hear those, too! We pay online instructors $25/hour for their time, including curriculum development, instruction time, and debrief. We usually set up teaching teams for our courses so that students can benefit from more individualized attention as well as multiple perspectives and teaching styles. Our students have made it clear that they expect us to increase the diversity of our teaching team.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Work with the Online Curriculum Coordinator (and your co-instructor if applicable) to develop a lesson plan, teach the class, and debrief afterwards. You have to love what you do and have an intermediate or advanced proficiency in your trade. You also have to be passionate about teaching. This position is a great resume builder if you're interested in being a teacher, a manager, etc. We have a professional Zoom account for real time instruction. We can help you get oriented to Zoom if you're not familiar with it, though familiarity is ideal. We use Google Drive for file sharing, so having a Gmail account and familiarity with it is helpful.
Other benefits include:
- Your profile and a link to your company/organization appearing on the Yestermorrow Instructor page.
- Educator pricing options for software like Sketch Up.
- Networking with other instructors and professionals in the sustainable design/build world.
- Join a Yestermorrow course for free if it's not at capacity with registered students.
How to Apply:
If you're interested in teaching an online course at Yestermorrow, please contact our Online Curriculum Coordinator Lina Menard by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone (802-490-6019) to arrange a time to talk and figure out how you'd best fit into the teaching team.
