Job Summary:
Multnomah County’s Department of County Assets (DCA) is seeking a Plumber, who will act as a subject matter expert in the operations, control, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and adjust building and/or facility plumbing systems. DCA manages technology, facilities, vehicles and records for Multnomah County. We provide countywide services and support behind the scenes to ensure county programs can serve residents effectively.

In short, we serve the people who serve the people. The Plumber position will perform the full range of duties, working independently, applying well-developed subject knowledge, and exercising judgment and initiative. Will identify and perform various plumbing tasks for commercial and residential systems, water pumps, specialty plumbing equipment, and plumbing plan reviews. Assist with the mechanical system preventative procedures, to include changing air filters and belts, greasing bearings, cleaning ducts, coils and condensation pans.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Experience needed for specialty equipment to repair systems which includes but is not limited to powered commercial plumbing snake and augers, pipe freezing and thawing unit, pipe threading machines, and brazing equipment, which may need a response at any given time
  • Work on basic plumbing systems which includes but not limited to the replacement and repair of sinks, faucets, toilets, urinals, shower heads
  • Must be able to unclog toilets, sinks, floor drains
  • Address connection to appliances such as dishwashers, refrigerators, drinking fountains, and water bottle fill stations
  • Change water filters
  • Assist with building improvement or construction by reviewing building plans as subject matter experts, assist with demolitions, perform installation of new plumbing systems, implement and insure code compliance is adhered, and review contractor work
  • Support the HVAC Technicians with the building HVAC systems
  • Verify building temperatures, review the HVAC closed loop system, assist others in the repair of HVAC

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Completion of apprenticeship program and three (3) to six (6) years of experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position
  • OR the equivalency of seven (7) to ten (10) years of qualifying training and/or experience
  • Experience applying an equity framework in processes and decision making
  • Pass a criminal background check
  • Have a valid driver license
  • Additional training, licenses, or certificates
  • Oregon Plumbing Journeyman License (Required)

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Industry Brazing Certificate

Compensation:  $41.08 per hour
