Job Summary:
This recruitment will establish an eligibility list for current and future vacancies for Pool Operator positions. These positions may remain open until filled and the eligibility list will be active for six months.
Initial review of applications will begin February 1, 2023.
The Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District (THPRD) is seeking a Pool Operator I to keep our pools and aquatic facilities looking top notch. Our pools and aquatic facilities are well-used by the community and well-maintained by our professional employees in the aquatic maintenance operations department; we invite you to bring your knowledge of facility maintenance to our team.
This position will mostly be working indoors in a pool environment and during hours of operation in an environment that is quite busy and noisy.
The schedule will be Monday to Friday 4am-12:45pm.
Assignments and schedules are subject to change based on organizational and seasonal need.
This position will be responsible for our Sunset and Harman Swim Centers.

Essential Job Functions Components of the job include (but are not limited to):

  • Perform minor repairs and preventative maintenance of the interior and exterior areas of the facility while keeping accurate record of service or repairs
  • Clean pool deck area, spectator section, dressing rooms, restrooms, shower area, and lobby/office area
  • Maintain proper pool water chemical balance
  • Assist in the maintenance, cleaning, and minor repairs of swimming pools, i.e., tanks, diving boards, and other related items
  • Assist in maintaining an inventory of supplies, i.e., pool chemicals, paper towels, toilet paper, soap, etc.
  • Attend staff meetings.
  • Provide support to a variety of committees, task forces or groups as necessary
  • Identify occupational hazards and use safety precautions

  • Any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that would likely provide the applicant with the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying
  • A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade and specialized training in Aquatic Maintenance and three (3) years of experience in aquatic facility
  • Operations/maintenance, supervisory experience desired
  • Education and Experience Licenses and Certifications: Certified Pool Operator (within six months of employment or first available class)
  • Valid Oregon Driver's license and good driving record

Compensation:  $61,100
