Vice President for Real Estate Development

Job Summary: If you are motivated by the opportunity to create lasting change through affordable homeownership, and you thrive on leading impactful real estate development projects from start to finish, then you could be our next Vice President for Real Estate Development. In this role, you will oversee the entire construction process, from real estate acquisition and energy-efficient building methods to securing final occupancy certificates and addressing post-construction warranty needs. You are comfortable managing a diverse portfolio of housing types, including single dwellings, duplexes, triplexes, and condos, and you excel at creating and refining systems and processes that ensure the consistent delivery of 60+ quality homes per year, while engaging both skilled tradespersons and untrained volunteers and homebuyers in the construction process. You enjoy being part of a collaborative and mission-driven leadership team, working alongside the CEO, COO, and other Vice Presidents to address the mission and vision.

*Policy and budget management – 30%
*New construction activities – 20%
*Leadership responsibilities – 10%
*Rehab/Recycle Program – 10%

Required Skills and Qualifications: To be successful in this role, you’ll:
+Bring 10+ years of residential construction management experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
+Extensive experience managing and optimizing internal systems and controls to support high-volume residential production, including overseeing projects from land acquisition through construction, final occupancy, and warranty completion—delivering 60+ homes annually with efficiency and quality.
+Proven ability to lead comprehensive pre-construction planning, manage multiple concurrent projects within established budgets and timelines, and oversee detailed scheduling, resource allocation, and risk mitigation to ensure successful project delivery.
+Have demonstrated success in building and managing high-performing teams through effective leadership, supervision, coaching, and training. Skilled at fostering a positive and mission-aligned departmental culture that supports organizational goals.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications: To be considered above and beyond the average candidate in this role, you’ll also:
+Have direct experience running challenging construction projects involving volunteer labor.
+Be an expert in developing and maintaining complex project management systems using Smartsheets.
+Have experience using Traction/EOS with a committed team.
Compensation: $112,301 to $140,376 annually
