Water Treatment & Supply Supervisor

Job Summary: This position is responsible for providing primary leadership of EWEB’s Water Production operations and supervising a team of Water Treatment Plant Operators and leads, Plant Maintenance staff, and Water Controls Electricians. The successful candidate will report to the Water Operations Manager and participate as a member of the Water Operations Management Team to identify, establish, and implement Water Utility and Corporate business objectives, while supervising approximately 12 direct reports.
Job Responsibilities: The successful candidate will have knowledge of and direct experience in most or all of the following:
- Principles of supervision, training, and performance evaluation;
- Surface water treatment plant operation and maintenance;
- Laboratory methods and practices;
- Interpreting and applying laws and regulations pertaining to water system operation;
- Identifying and understanding occupational hazards, including those of subordinate positions;
- Implementing required safety procedures and promoting safe working habits;
- Applying principles and prac-tices of water bacteriology, laboratory quality assurance methods, and quality control procedures;
- Water chemistry, treatment reactions, and the use of laboratory equipment for accurate measurements;
- Working knowledge of EPA, Oregon Health Authority and DEQ regulations regarding water quality and laboratory procedures;
- Ordering procedures and plant inventories for parts, supplies, chemicals, etc;
- Critical Thinking - Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weak
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience: Eight years of progressively responsible work experience in a directly related functional field which includes four years of direct supervision in a multi-functional work environment OR an equivalent combination of professional, senior, lead, or project management experience may satisfy the supervisor requirement.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a directly related technical field or an equivalent combination of education plus additional job-related experience may be qualifying.
- Professional license or registration: 1) Must possess an Oregon Water Treatment Operator Level 4 Certification or obtain within 1 year of employment; 2) Must possess Oregon Laboratory Analysis Certification or obtain within 1 year of employment.
- Equivalency: Candidates who don’t meet all the minimum qualifications but whose application materials demonstrate equivalent relevant experience, skills, and ability to excel in similar roles are encouraged to apply.
Compensation: $118,394 - $157,859.
