Job Summary: This recruitment is for one (1) full-time, permanent Construction & Maintenance Project Specialist position for Battle Ground Lake State Park located in Battleground, WA. The Construction & Maintenance Project Specialist may serve as the maintenance and project contact for the Battle Ground Area, focusing on Battle Ground Lake SP, Paradise Point SP, and Beacon Rock SP.
Job Responsibilities:
- Duties include, but are not limited to: Performs journey level skills in construction, maintenance, operations, and repair work for preventative and deferred maintenance projects.
- Skills include: Carpentry, masonry, roofing, plumbing, and electrical trades.
- Heavy equipment operations, transportation, maintenance, and repair, as needed.
- Water chlorination systems and assist with water/wastewater sampling and reporting.
- Maintain, construct, and remodel buildings, floats, docks, gates, culverts, trails infrastructure and other facilities required for park operations.
- Perform construction and maintenance tasks and projects within the parks and facilities managed, which include: Permitting, budgeting, written documents, periodic project review, and quality control.
- Annual and monthly reports of equipment usage, fuel completion, domestic water consumption, and wastewater disposal/discharge.
- Meet building and permit codes, accurately and timely.
- May serve as lead on projects including teaching, training, guiding, assisting, and communicating effectively with staff.
- May assist with projects at other state park areas.
- Maintain health and safety standards.
- Perform complex mathematical calculations.
- Purchasing materials required to complete projects adhering to purchasing regulations.
- Prepare cost estimates for construction, alteration, installation, repair, and maintenance projects.
- Perform duties along and in remote locations.
- Knowledgeable of Department of Health and/or Department of Ecology rules regarding water and wastewater.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Four (4) years of advanced level experience in two (2) or more of the construction/building trades to include: building maintenance, repair, remodeling, construction duties, and mechanical/machinery operation. AND High school graduation or GED.
- Valid unrestricted (except corrective lenses) driver's license.
- First Aid/CPR Certification needs to be obtained within first 12 months of employment.
- **Two (2) years of technical or vocational training or education in a building/construction trade may substitute for up to two (2) years of the required experience.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience working for Washington State Parks or a similar parks and recreation entity.
- Advanced level experience driving and operating a variety of vehicles and light to heavy equipment.
- Advanced knowledge and experience working with various hand and power tools.
- Intermediate technical knowledge and experience and expertise in construction, installation, and problem-solving issues impacting agency facilities, sites, and systems.
- Beginner skills and experience with the use of Microsoft Office products such as Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Beginner project management experience including planning, purchasing, and completion of tasks.
- Experience organizing work projects to include time management, multi-tasking, and communication.
- Knowledge and application of building codes, rules and regulations governing safety, repair, and maintenance and construction of facilities and tasks.
Compensation: $64,776 - $75,108 annually
