Laborer's Pre-Apprenticeship Training in The Dalles
As part of a direct-entry program with the Oregon Laborers Apprenticeship, and thanks to funds from Google, Oregon Tradeswomen is offering a Laborer’s focused Trades and Apprenticeship Career Class (TACC). The five-week class provides the training and hands-on experience needed to start your path to becoming a highly-skilled Construction Craft Laborer Apprentice!
Successful completion of this pre-apprenticeship training will give you entry to continue an apprenticeship in one of the most diverse trades in the industry. Wages start at $22.04/hr and can exceed $34.98/hr after completion of your apprenticeship. For details on the various scopes of work, visit Oregon Laborer’s online!
Oregon Tradeswomen’s training program is offered at no cost to job seekers. Individuals successfully completing the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries certified program receive a certificate of completion recognized by industry registered apprenticeship training programs and employers.
Training Includes:
• Career exploration in construction and the skilled laborers trades
• Classroom learning and hands-on training
• Fitness conditioning
• Direct entry to the Laborer’s Registered Apprenticeship program
• Dial A Ride Service (door-to-door transportation) available on a case-by-case basis.
• GOrgePass can be provided: Bus route leaving Hood River at 6:45 am | Arriving The Dalles TC at 7:15 am
• Gas cards and other support services will be available
Enrollment Requirements:
• Be 18 years of age or older
• Woman / Non-Binary
• Have a High School Diploma or GED
• Desire to pursue a career in the construction industry
• Have a low income determined by earning less than 80% of the Portland Metro Median Income (Based on this table)
• Be able to pass UA drug testing – we test during class
WE DRUG TEST
Oregon Tradeswomen’s pre-apprenticeship program complies with the industry standard of zero tolerance for drug use. This includes marijuana. Oregon Tradeswomen conducts two drug tests during our program, once on the first day of programming at the mandatory orientation, and one random urine test during the period class is in session. If you test positive at either of these times, you will be dismissed from class and asked to re-enroll at a different time when you are able to pass the drug tests.!
