ABOUT LATINOBUILT
LatinoBuilt (LB) is a trade association for Latino Contractors in Oregon, a 501(c)6 whose primary purpose is to support and empower Latino-owned businesses in construction. LatinoBuilt works with partners within the community to address inequities and connects contractors to public works project opportunities. In addition to contractor support, LB delivers energy efficiency and weatherization programs in partnership with Energy Trust of Oregon (ETO), NW Natural, and the Portland Clean Energy Fund (PCEF) to improve comfort, health, and affordability for Oregon households.
Position Summary
The Home Energy Assessor will conduct residential energy audits, evaluate building performance, and develop scopes of work for energy efficiency and weatherization upgrades. This position plays a critical role in delivering multiple energy efficiency programs ensuring equitable access to energy savings for income-qualified and priority households.
This role requires strong technical knowledge, customer service skills, and experience working directly with homeowners. The Home Energy Assessor will work closely with program staff, contractors, and community partners to support program compliance and successful project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Energy Assessments & Diagnostics:
- Conduct comprehensive home energy assessments following partnership program standards
- Perform diagnostic testing, including blower door testing, duct leakage, combustion safety, and infrared thermography
- Evaluate insulation, HVAC systems, water heating, ventilation, windows, and overall building performance
- Identify health, safety, and code-related concerns
- Prepare detailed scopes of work for energy efficiency and weatherization upgrades
Program Compliance & Reporting:
- Accurately document findings and maintain program records in required software systems
- Ensure compliance with program guidelines, safety standards, and funder requirements
- Support data tracking and reporting for grant and utility partners
Customer Engagement & Education:
- Educate homeowners on energy efficiency measures, available incentives, and long-term savings
- Provide excellent customer service and address homeowner questions or concerns
Coordination & Collaboration:
- Work closely with LatinoBuilt staff, contractors, and inspectors to ensure quality project execution
- Maintain and calibrate assessment equipment and follow safety protocols
- Participate in program trainings and meetings as required
Qualifications & Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent required;
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Building Science, Environmental Studies, Construction Management, or related field preferred
- BPI Building Analyst Certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire)
- Knowledge of residential construction, HVAC, insulation, air sealing, and weatherization practices
- Familiarity with Energy Trust of Oregon, PCEF, NW Natural, or similar programs strongly preferred
- Experience working with income-qualified households or community-based programs preferred
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Proficient in basic computer skills and data entry
- Valid Oregon driver’s license and clean driving record
- Bilingual Fluent in English and Spanish
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Comfortable working in attics, crawl spaces, and varying environmental conditions
- Ability to climb ladders and access confined spaces
Work Environment & Expectations
- Hybrid or in-person work environment depending on program needs
- Occasional evenings or weekends for home visits, community engagement, and trainings
- Local travel to homes and partner sites
