Road Maintenance Operators

Job Summary: The Road Maintenance Division is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the County transportation system including some state highways and city streets under contract with Lane County. Although the majority of equipment and employees in Road Maintenance are based at the Delta Complex, satellite shops are located near Cottage Grove, Dexter, Veneta, and Florence. A crew and equipment are assigned to each Road Maintenance Zone. The Bridge Special Projects, Vegetation, and Sign Shop crew are headquartered at Delta and work throughout the County.

Job Responsibilities: Lane County Public Works is hiring two Road Maintenance Operators to join our Road & Bridge Maintenance team—one on our Bridge Crew and one on our Cottage Grove Crew. In this role, you’ll help keep our communities connected by building, repairing, and maintaining the roads, bridges, and transportation infrastructure that thousands of residents rely on every day. This is hands-on, skilled work where no two days are the same. You’ll work outdoors year-round, operate a variety of equipment, and collaborate closely with a supportive team who takes pride in doing quality work that directly supports public safety. Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Training: Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.
• Experience: Two years of experience in the operation of a variety of medium road maintenance and construction equipment, including experience performing semi-skilled and skilled tasks. An equivalent combination of experience and training that will demonstrate the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.

Compensation: $22.51 - $29.08 Hourly
