Job Summary:
Oregon Youth Authority (OYA) is hiring a permanent, full-time Facility Energy Technician 2 to perform journey level work to operate, calibrate, and repair steam boilers or other multifaceted energy systems that generate heat, ventilation, air condition, and refrigeration (HVAC/R) in OYA buildings and facilities.

You will also maintain, operate and repair wastewater distribution and water treatment systems and perform or assist with other non-boiler related work such as performing a variety of semi-skilled work in the alteration, maintenance, and repair.

Job Requirements:

  • Repair, replace and troubleshoot HVAC systems
  • Monitor building energy usage
  • Operate fuel and water supply systems
  • Collect and prepare samples as specific in the DEQ issued Water Pollution Control Facilities (WPCF) permit as required for reporting to the DEQ on the Discharge Monitoring Report (DMF)
  • Supervise, instruct and train youth in building maintenance and construction skills, work habits, safety, housekeeping and proper use of hand and power tools
  • Repair walls, doors, windows, roofs, gutters, floor tile, all phases of building maintenance work
  • May require responding to emergencies, equipment failures, snow and ice storms outside of regular working hours
  • Position is subject to afterhours call back
  • May be required to work overtime
  • Requires heavy lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Exposure to temperature extremes, harmful chemicals, noise, poor lighting and air quality, and working in heating and plumbing tunnels, on ladders, scaffolds, high buildings or platforms and occasionally requires working in inclement weather conditions
  • Demonstrate the skill and ability to operate all vehicles and equipment that may be used to fulfill the job functions such as driving bus in mornings to pick up youth offenders and transport to work areas
  • Position may require the employee to travel to other OYA facilities located throughout the state
  • Daily contact with youth offenders who exhibit hostile, assaultive behavior
  • Position is located in closed custody facilities which requires, as a primary responsibility, strict adherence by each employee to security measures at all times to assure the custody, control and supervision of youth offenders

Compensation:  $3707.00 - 5657.00
