Job Responsibilities:
- Participate in project development activities prior to contracts being awarded.
- Review pre-award contract documentation for completeness and accuracy.
- Read and interpret contract documentation.
- Inspect and monitor construction work to ensure it complies with plans and specifications.
- Measure and record contractors work and prepare documents to justify payment.
- Act as a point of contact for communication with contractors, the public or other interested parties.
- Monitor traffic control and safety procedures.
- Provide project information to internal staff, and oversee field and office personnel in documentation, payment and record assembly duties.
- Perform contract administration duties including the preparation of documents such as daily progress reports.
- Ensure that contractors and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) subcontractors meet contract requirements.
- May require working long hours and being on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week including holidays.
- Work is performed outdoors 50% or more of the time.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Completion of and passing score on the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam. OR A bachelor's degree in civil or transportation-related engineering.
- Special qualifications: Driving is an essential function of this position. You must have a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s). Your license does not have to be issued in Oregon to be considered.

- Experience, education or training in highway construction.
- Experience reading and interpreting highway construction contract plans and specifications.
- Experience implementing or inspecting temporary traffic control in highway construction work zones.
- Experience implementing or inspecting temporary or permanent erosion control best management practices in highway construction work zones.
Compensation: $4,586 - $7,114 per month
