The City of Portland is seeking qualified electricians who are ready to make a meaningful impact in the public sector. Electricians install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair a variety of electrical and instrumentation equipment, electrical systems, sub-systems, circuits, and controls such as motors, service equipment, generators, controllers, electrically operated valves and pumps, welding machines, electronic controls, microprocessors, transformers, services, branch circuits including traffic control circuits and other components/facilities as assigned. Work varies from bureau to bureau but could include rigging guy wires, installing signal heads and streetlights, splicing cable, repairing, and installing appliances and light fixtures. In some instances, responsibilities may include working on alarm system
Required Skills and Qualifications: The following minimum qualifications are required for this position:
• Experience interpreting and applying the National Electrical Code (NEC).
• Experience performing electrical repair, modification and installation including wiring motors, various types of lighting control, controllers and troubleshooting for voltages from 24VDC up to 480 VAC. (Experience from 480VAC up to 5KV is not required but should be noted in your resume)
• Experience working collaboratively and effectively with coworkers in a diverse organization.
• Ability to learn and use safe work practices, maintain daily activity reports, perform layout, and sketch design for electrical installations, and repairs.

• An Oregon General Journeyman Electrician's license or a Limited Manufacturing Plant Journeyman's license, or a General Supervising or Limited Supervising Electricians License, or a Manufacturing Plant license
Compensation: $47.00 - $50.77 Hourly
