Job Summary: Are you an experienced HVAC professional who is an expert in major commercial HVAC systems? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join Multnomah County’s Department of County Assets (DCA) Facilities and Property Management Division (FPM) as an HVAC Engineer Senior. DCA manages technology, facilities, vehicles, and records for Multnomah County. We provide countywide services and support behind the scenes to ensure county programs can serve residents effectively. In short, we serve the people who serve the people. In this position, you will perform the full range of duties in operations, control, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and adjusting building and/or facility HVAC systems. You will be working independently, applying well-developed subject knowledge, and exercising judgment and initiative.
Job Responsibilities:
- Respond to complex issues or repairs to major commercial HVAC systems. These include but are not limited to responding to boilers, chillers, RTU, AHU, mini-splits, heat pumps, PTACs, and cooling towers.
- Repair specialty HVAC systems equipment.
- Work on basic plumbing systems which includes the replacement and repair of sinks, faucets, toilets, urinals, and shower heads.
- Able to unclog toilets, sinks, and floor drains; address connection to appliances such as dishwashers, refrigerators, drinking fountains, and water bottle fill stations; and change water filters.
- Assist with building improvement or construction by reviewing building plans, assisting with demolitions, performing installation of new HVAC systems, ensuring code compliance is adhered to, and reviewing contractor work.
- Ensure a safe work environment.
- Drive a County vehicle during work hours.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Completion of the 12th grade or equivalent education and three (3) to six (6) years of experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
- This position requires a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to pass multiple criminal history records checks, including OSP CJIS and ORCHARDS, should a job offer be extended.
- Required Training, Licenses, and/or Certificates: Oregon Industry Brazing Certificate and Refrigerant Certificate (EPA).
Preferred Skills and Qualifications: Experience applying an equity framework in processes and decision making. Proficient in computer usage for work order system, email, client communication, and training—experience using Google Suite, Tririga, and Workday.
Compensation: $41.08 Hourly
