RISE Up Oregon

Respect . Inclusion . Safety . Equity.

RISE Up is a Respectful Workplace Program designed to provide all workers with the tools and support necessary to create and maintain a safe, inclusive, and productive environment for everyone. RISE Up provides industry best practices through workplace consulting and training to help contractors and sub-contractors create an environment of productivity, safety, and equity in construction management and on work sites. The tenets of RISE Up are rooted in...

Respect

Respect is the act of treating every person with equal value, period. Every person is equal and deserves the same level of care and attention. It is a priority to treat each person how we ourselves would want to be treated.

Inclusion

Inclusion is the act of creating environments in which any individual or group can be and feel welcomed, respected, supported, safe and valued to fully participate.

Safety

Safety is first, last and always about people. It is not just physical safety, but mental and emotional safety also.

Equity

Equity is the act of developing fair systems, procedures, and resource distribution mechanisms to create equitable opportunity for all people.

Oregon Tradeswomen, together with PBDG, is RISE Up Oregon. Let us help you develop a plan to recruit, promote, and retain a diverse workforce while increasing your bottom line.

Supporting Workforce Equity and Respectful Jobsite Objectives

RISE Up is mission-driven to ensure that our region's workforce and contractors provide adequate, equitable, and on-going opportunities for inclusion for women and Black, Indigenous, and other people of color (BIPOC) job-seekers and tradesworkers. Our work is centered in ensuring recruitment, retention, and promotion of historically under-represented people who can play a vital role in our industry through high-wage, high-skilled careers in the construction industry.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Diversity, equity, and inclusion are multi-faceted issues that need to be tackled holistically. The construction industry has historically struggles to recruit and retain skilled workers from diverse backgrounds. A major factor in poor apprenticeship completion rates, particularly with women and people of color, is witnessing or experiencing harassment, hazing, bullying, and discrimination on the worksite.

Our Commitment to You

As the Oregon affiliate provider for RISE Up bystander-intervention and harassment prevention training program, Oregon Tradeswomen is committed to working together with our industry partners to ensure that jobsites are harassment-free, and to provide a respectful, equitable workplace environment.

While our industry has made many advances in creating a shared understanding and set of behaviors to address safety issues, our industry has failed in addressing harassment and bullying as a jobsite safety concern. Like safety protocols on jobsites, the culture of a respectful workplace needs to be clearly understood and upheld everywhere.
